Description

Savory Sausage and Cheese Breakfast Casserole combines high-quality sausage, sharp cheddar, and creamy custard for a delicious and nutritious start to your day.


Ingredients

1 lb Ground Pork or Turkey Sausage
8 large Pasture-Raised Eggs
2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
6 cups Sourdough or Gluten-Free Bread, cubed
2 cups Whole Milk or Unsweetened Almond Milk
1 tablespoon Avocado Oil
2 cups Fresh Spinach, packed
Sea Salt and Black Pepper to taste
1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika


Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with a light coating of Avocado Oil. Cube the bread and spread evenly in the dish
  2. Sear the sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess fat
  3. Sauté fresh spinach in the same skillet until wilted
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and paprika
  5. Layer the cooked sausage and spinach over the bread, add half the cheese, then pour the egg mixture over
  6. Top with the remaining cheese, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F and bake for 35 to 45 minutes until set and golde
  8. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving

Notes

Use high-quality meat and freshly grated cheese for best results.

Sauté vegetables before adding to prevent excess moisture.
