Ingredients
Scale
1 cup Fresh Blueberries
3 cups Filtered Water
1/4 cup Fresh Mint Leaves
1 Lemon Slices
1–2 tablespoons Maple Syrup or Raw Honey (optional, to taste)
Instructions
- Gently rinse 1 cup of fresh blueberries under cool water and transfer them to a medium saucepa
- Pour 3 cups of filtered water into the saucepan with the blueberries and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat
- Once simmering, lightly mash the blueberries with a spoon to release their juices and deepen the flavor. Continue to simmer for 5-7 minutes
- Remove from heat and add the fresh mint leaves and lemon slices. Stir in maple syrup or honey if using. Let steep for 10-15 minutes
- Strain the tea through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing on the solids to extract all the liquid. Discard the pulp, mint, and lemon slices
- Let the tea cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Serve over ice with extra fresh blueberries, a lemon slice, and mint
Notes
Using ripe blueberries will enhance sweetness and flavor.
Avoid vigorous boiling to maintain nutrient quality.
You can make a concentrate by using less water initially.
